Hidden Gems concert series delighted to welcome Morassi String quartet for an exciting evening of music, including pieces by a female composer Grazyna Bacewicz and other sadly not often performed virtuosic creations by obscure composers alongside well-loved ones!
The Morassi Quartet was formed in 2018 at the Royal College of Music by violinists Natasha Humphries and Katie Mazur, violist Toby Warr, and cellist Iza Stefańska. The quartet’s members have performed extensively abroad, including tours of France, Austria, Germany, Poland, Russia and China, as well as U.K. venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Snape Maltings, and Sage Gateshead.
The Morassi Quartet have been selected to perform in many concerts at the RCM, including the annual Chamber Music Festival, FestivALL, and the Essential Bartók and Legacy of Vaughan Williams series. Most recently, they were invited to perform Mozart’s String Quintet No. 4 in G minor with the Bryony Gibson-Cornish, violist of the Marmen Quartet and RCM Professor, as part of the 2023 Chamber Music Festival. They have also performed in many classical music festivals across the U.K., including Berkshire Chamber Music Festival and Dartington Music Festival alongside the Brodsky Quartet.
Upcoming engagements include recitals Southwark Cathedral, The Drill Lincoln’s classical music series, St Mary Le Strand’s ‘Hidden Gems’ series, St Mary’s Perivale, and a tour in the Provence region of France.
The quartet receive regular guidance from renowned chamber musicians Simon Rowland-Jones and Yuri Zhislin, as well as coaching from the Chilingirian, Brodsky and Marmen Quartets.
The Morassi Quartet are grateful for the generous support from Talent Unlimited, Help Musicians, Stephen Bell Charitable Trust, Orpheus Scholarship, Audrey Piggott Award, and ABRSM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award.
